What Are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are a non-surgical, minimally invasive approach to lost facial volume and fine lines and wrinkles. They work by injecting a gel containing a filler, in many cases one made of hyaluronic acid (HA), which takes the place of lost collagen and plumps up the skin. Dermal fillers can also stimulate new collagen production. This treatment eventually dissipates naturally from your body, so you can safely rejuvenate your skin with these fillers and then replace it in several months when it starts to fade.

 
 

  • • Avoid alcoholic beverages at least 48 hours prior to treatment (alcohol can thin blood and increase bruising).

    • If possible, avoid elective anti-inflammatory/blood thinning medications and supplements for two weeks before treatment.

    • If in advance of a special event or occasion, please be sure to schedule your Filler or Botox treatments at least two weeks prior to the event date.

    • Please hydrate thoroughly in advance of your appointment. Healthy skin yields the best results!

  • • Please come makeup-free if possible! If not, we will ask you to remove your makeup upon arrival.

    • We will apply ice and a topical numbing cream during the treatment to ensure you’re comfortable.

    • Results are immediate! However, temporary bruising and swelling is normal.

  • • Avoid makeup for 2 hours.

    • Unless instructed otherwise by your provider, do not massage or manipulate the treated area for at least 4 hours following treatment.

    • Avoid strenuous exercise or heavy lifting for 24 hours after your treatment.

    • Ask your provider about timing for other treatments.
